The mixture of elite professionals and leisure players makes Sydney Bridge Centre an unique and embracing club. While these A-list events are specially designed for advanced players, they are open to everyone who enjoys playing a more challenging game.
RED Wednesday Elite Duplicate @ City
We are bringing back the face-to-face elite evening game back on our calendar and hope this will continue as a regular session. The first series will be the State Open Pairs Qualifier over 3 Wednesday nights.
- Date: Over 3 Wednesday Nights on 10th, 17th & 24th April
- Time: 7.15pm start
- Venue: Level 1, 162 Goulburn Street, Surry Hills
- Entry Fee: $72 per person
This event qualifies one-sixth of the field to the F2F State Open Pairs Championship Finals on 16th – 17th November 2024. All participating pairs in the WED State Open Pairs Qualifiers are eligible to progress to the Finals as Sydney Bridge Centre representatives (saving $40 entry fee!).
GOLD GNOT Direct Qualifier (Metro+) @ City
A BRAND NEW Grand National Open Teams SBC Direct Qualifying event to be held face-to-face over a weekend on April 13-14. For competitive players who have struggled to commit multiple sessions over several weeks, this is the GOLDEN opportunity to play in GNOT!
- Date: Sat-Sun 13th-14th April, 2024
- Time: 10.00am start both days
- Venue: Level 1, 162 Goulburn Street, Surry Hills
- Entry Fee: $560 for the whole team (lunch is included for both days)
- Entry is restricted (Metro+) to residents of the Sydney Metropolitan, Central Coast, Illawarra & Blue Mountains regions.

This event qualifies one team directly to the Online 64-Teams Knockout Round GNOT National Phase Two from September 20th – 22nd.

Sunday Fundays @ City
Come join us for a relaxed game with scrumptious goodies and drinks! The next two Sunday Fundays will be held on:
- Sunday 24th March, 1.30pm – 4.30pm (Don’t miss it, or you will have to wait until 28th April!)
No need to book. You don’t need a partner, visitors and walk-ins are welcome.
Directors Course (Club Level)
The Course is designed not only for players who may want to become a director, it is also good for players who would like to understand the Law and regulations, so they can become a better player! If you find that you may want to give directing a go, Sydney Bridge Centre offers training opportunity, both our experienced directors and manager will guide you through during a real session.

State Mixed Pairs Qualifiers
We all love a good game. Here comes the opportunity for you to enjoy the competitiveness of the game –
There will be two State Mixed Pairs Qualifying Events in City:
- Over 3 Tuesday mornings on 5th, 12th & 19th March @ City, 10.00am – 1.15pm;
- Over 3 Thursday mornings on 7th, 14th & 21st March @ City, 10.00am – 1.15pm
RED masterpoints. No need to book. All are welcome. However, to qualify, you must play at least two times in the same regular session with the same partner of the opposite gender. Only 2 best out of 3 results counted! That means, if you play all 3, your worst result will be ignored! Sydney Bridge Centre will sponsor 2 winning pairs (one from each event) to represent us to compete in the face-to-face State Mixed Pairs Championship Final from 18th – 19th May (worth $200). Both players of each pair must be Sydney Bridge Centre members.
Strathfield Bridge Club will also run the State Mixed Pairs Qualifying event over 3 Monday mornings on 4th, 11th & 18th March @ Canada Bay, 10.00am – 1.15pm. They will sponsor at least 1 pair (both players must be Strathfield Bridge Club members) to the Final.
Extra $2 table money fee for all State Mixed Pairs Qualifying sessions in both City and Canada Bay.
Upcoming Workshops @ City
Great topics will be discussed in the next few Workshops – it’s a fun way to learn (by playing without scoring) with a big group!
- Friday 8th March, 10.00am – 3.30pm on Defence Techniques: Card Placing and Counting Tricks.
- Friday 12th April, 10.00am – 3.30pm on Solid Suits, Strong Suits and Decisive Bidding.

♣♦ Challenge Yourself in the New Year ♥♠
This is a one-day Swiss Pairs to be held on Australia Day 26th January 2024 (Friday), at the Sydney Bridge Centre clubroom. Bridge congresses usually attract good players from all over the place, which create the best stage for bridge players to get to know others from broader bridge community. Bridge is probably the only game in the world where ordinary players can rub shoulders with advanced players and champions. If you play tennis it is unlikely that you will ever end up playing against Roger Federer, or indeed enjoy the experience if you do. However, you might well find yourself at the same table as his bridge counterpart and even win the odd deal!
Sydney Bridge Centre has proved that a competitive game can also be a pleasant gathering. We will play three 8-board matches in the morning, then lunch break, and another three 8-board matches in the afternoon on the day. There will be Australia Day themed refreshment through the day, and a delicious lunch is included.

Prize money will depend on the number of entries. If sufficient entries, cash prizes will be awarded to place getters and there will be a restricted category. Wine prizes are also usually provided but will depend on entries.

- All bridge sessions will run as normal during the holiday season, except public holidays
- NO bridge on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
- First session in the New Year is Tuesday 2nd January 2024, 10am start
Canada Bay @ Five Dock:
- Last Monday morning session on 11th December 2023. First Monday morning session will be on 8th January 2024.
- Last Thursday morning session (Open and Supervised) on 14th December 2023. First Thursday morning session (Open and Supervised) will be on 11th January 2024.

RED masterpoints will be awarded to most of the OPEN sessions after the Xmas Party!
