The Australia Bridge magazine organises a nation-wide Novice Pairs competition on behalf of Australia Bridge Federation every May. SBC has been running this competition for years and it has become one of our popular sessions. This year, we will turn our regular Wednesday morning session into this competition, 10.00am start. The Wednesday morning Supervised session will be run as normal, no lesson that day, you will play the same hands as the main field at a slower pace.
We will submit the sessional results to national event organiser. Your results will be compared with all participants in the whole country for national ranking! A good indicator to see where you are in your bridge journey.
All are welcome, but only players with fewer than 100 masterpoints* will be eligible to obtain a nation-wide ranking.
At the end of the session, all participants will receive a souvenir booklet with analysis on all hands played in the session. There will be spot prizes in the booklet, so don’t forget to check it out and claim them afterwards. The extra $5 entry fee also entitles you to a $5 discount on the Australia Bridge Novice Magazine, and exclusive discounts at the Australia Bridge bookstore.
SBC will award the sessional winners an invaluable and meaningful prize – a complimentary SBC Workshop by Will Jenner-O’Shea of their choice. More prizes will be awarded by Australia Bridge Magazine for national results place getters.
No need to book in advance. Walk-ins and visitors are welcome. Extra $5 table money fee (to Australia Bridge via SBC).
*Novice player will have fewer than 100 masterpoints as at 28th February 2025.
