The McCutcheon Awards

The McCutcheon awards date back to the 1970s, at which time the award was solely a recognition of “Player of the Year”, being the player who amassed the highest number of Australian masterpoints within a calendar year.

Now, the awards are presented annually to the player in each master ranking group (Gold and Silver Grand Masters are combined into a single category) winning the most masterpoints during the calendar year. Player ranking groups are determined by their master ranking at the start of the calendar year.

It is a nationwide award for all players who have a valid ABF number. For example; if your ranking is 50….. 49 players nationwide in your division (Club, Local, Regional… etc) earned more points than you have so far this year.

The following list shows only the top 10 in each masterpoints category, with the Sydney Bridge Centre members highlighted in yellow (the SBC youth players in green). Congratulations! A special mention to Alan Stoneham, who came 8th on the Most Improved Players for 2023. Well done!
